Non-Birth Parent Meet-Up *6:30pm - 8pm
Description
This is an Our Family Coalition-sponsored, parent-led group.
Pregnancy and parenthood, although miraculous and absolutely wonderful, can also be a challenging time - especially in the beginning, and it is common to feel overwhelmed, sad, and lonely, amongst many other things. As the non-birth parent in a queer relationship, there are likely additional specific challenges that may arise such as jealousy over genetic or biological connection, bonding issues, lack of recognition by society as a fully legitimate parent, extended family judgement, etc.
There are many resources and a plethora of support groups available for pregnant and nursing moms, as well as cisgendered dads, but our particular niche has a scarcity of options. Whether your partner is currently expecting, you are a new parent, or a seasoned one, this group welcomes you. This is your space to bond with other non-birth parents whether you are seeking support, or just looking for community, friendship, or a simply a night that's about you.
*To create an environment where you can get the most out of this group they ask that you leave the kiddos at home. However, if you find yourself in a bind and have no childcare options you may bring them along.
