Gender/ Play Series for Parents and Kids
Description
OFC, Destiny Arts Center and trainer Gabriel Christian (they/them) come together to bring you a series of parent-child interactive classes to help the little ones and their adults think through the cycles of gendered language that perpetuate inequity and misunderstanding. Utilizing physical exercises and through fun activities, we will wiggle out of our usual frameworks and find new ways to gender ourselves. And, yes, there will be a costume box! Gabriel Christian (they/them) is a New York bred and Oakland based performance artist and facilitator. With an art practice comfortably fluid between movement, theatre, drag, and poetry, they have worked with Destiny Arts Center as a teaching artist for three years. Additionally, in the past year and a half, they have been with Skywatchers, a Tenderloin-based art and advocacy organization that amplifies the voices of local Tenderloin residents to the level of policy through artistic intervention. llustration Works/Corbis
