VIRTUAL: Positive Parenting Program: Teen | 6-8PM
Description
This workshop is meeting virtually during shelter-in-place, as part of our Coronavirus curtailment response.
Please register in advance to receive phone and video conference access information.
The Positive Parenting Program: Teen (or TripleP:Teen for short) offers a research-based, time- and family-tested curriculum that helps parents and caregivers of tweens and teens:
- learn about the developmental leaps that happen during the tween and teen years (and bring so much dramatic change to our relationships with our kids!)
- understand why and how to transition from your kids' "boss" to their "coach"
- practice ways of approaching conflicts with your tween or teen that enable you both to be at your best
- try out stress- and anger-management techniques that can help you all get through these and other hard times
Over the course of three months, participants have the opportunity to observe their internal family dynamics and practice new behaviors, checking back in for each Tuesday evening's class to learn more, share what's working, and troubleshoot what's challenging with other parents and caregivers facing similar challenges.
At the end of the series, participants will have learned how to build stronger relationships with their tweens and teens, negotiate boundaries, deal with conflict calmly, and help equip our young adults to deal with risky situations and life's larger problems.
Dawn Stueckle, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Sunset Youth Services (SYS), will facilitate the group via Zoom. You'll be in a secure "Zoom room" with other SYS parents & caregivers of teens, as well as other Our Family Coalition community members. We'll send you the course workbook in the mail, and be on hand for every class, as well as between classes, to provide support. We've worked with Dawn for years, and feel confident when we say: you'll be hard-pressed to find anyone with more experience with both this curriculum and with tweens and teens.
